Last month the Cedar Grove police department arrested 82-yeard old retired pastor James Raines on charges of battery against a law enforcement officer.
Tuesday he received some very good news.
Raines was arrested at his home church, Hiland Park United Methodist Church in Early November. He was aiding a homeless man when a Cedar Grove police officer charged in.
He allegedly threw Rev. Raines to the ground and arrested him. Raines spent nearly 24 hours in the Bay County jail.
Tuesday State Attorney Steve Meadows decided to drop all charges against Raines.
Now that Raines has been cleared of criminal charges, he and his attorney are considering further legal action.
