The recession has affected many people businesses and schools. And the latest in a local private school that’s been in operation for almost 50 years.

Panama City Christian School confirmed Monday afternoon that the school is closing tomorrow.

The school, which is a ministry of Central Baptist Church, has seen a decline in enrollment due mostly to the struggling economy.

Dr. Bruce Barton, Panama Christian’s President is sending letters to all church members, school family and employees homes.

The letters to parents include any refunds for pre-paid for tuition for the next school year.

Dr. Barton says the Child Development Center and summer camp program will continue as scheduled through August 14th.

I am not surprised at all by this news. The school has been poorly managed for years. We took our children out because of the way it was being run. And their answer to dropping enrollemnt was to raise rates. The director needs to take some refresher courses in business management.

it is a sad day for the legacy of panama city christian school. I feel sorry for the dedicated staff, teachers, and daycare workers that poured their life into this ministry. It is very sad to see such a wonderful ministry mis-managed for the past 12-15 years. God Bless the faithful servants of this minisrty
