"T" it's hard to follow your thoughts with the poor grammer and the run-on sentences but let me answer as best as I can. 1. You're right I was talking to his mother. But we were there next to him on the bench in the pool. Not 40' away poolside. My back wasn't to him. I was sitting with my back toward the wall and his mother sat facing him. 2. I wasn't upset because I was in shock. But i'm sure you saw how distraught and wrecked his mother was. 3. The Doctors say he was under less than a minute - thanks again to Gary. There were 25 other people there and they didn't see him either. I understand that it's not other people's responsibility to watch my children I'm saying it happened fast and unless you were sitting with us you don't know how often we checked and looked for him. You don't know how I, or she, felt; or how this is still affecting us. 4. As far as the EMTs go. You should contact their supervisor if their pace bothers you so much.

Well "D" Actually if this is the mother you was spotted Talking amongst friends and you did have your backed turned to the child but you could have seen him through your peripheral vision. And for no one to know how long he had been under tells everyone you wasn't watching him at all, we all understand that anything can happen in a second but you wasn't even really upset sitting next to him at the pool. I think that other people are right when they say keep an eye on your Children while in the pool at all times it only takes a second. The boy was Blue allover and almost Gray That tells me that he was under for at least 2 min at max. Enough about the mother of the situation The Bay cty paramedics could have came prepared for the worst and they just slowly walked in and walked to the boy then they realized that it was serious they man EMT picked the boy up and rushed him out the door the boy appeared to be lifeless as he left CW with him Luckily the boy was screaming entering ambulance

TO All: We were watching him and his three other siblings. We took my eyes off of him for a second and in that time he slipped. between the noise and the 14 other childrens heads bobbing up and down We just couldn't see him. Trust me we feel horrible and blame ourselves constantly. But we wasn't negligent. we weren't drunk. We weren't sitting poolside with the kids in the pool talking amongst our friends. Just one minute he was there and the next not and then Gary was bringing him up out of the water. So "S" you should know the entire story before passing judgment on parenting skills and "G" did you see him on the bottom or were you counting heads like I was? and Rose I understand your comments and trust me we know life is precious, our world fell apart friday afternoon. You'll all be happy to know the child is alive and well and back to his same hijinks. ~D~

Rose and S are right on!! Does anyone know how the boy is doing?

When a 4 year old is in the pool, one of the parents should be within an arms length at all times. Even if the child knows how to swim you can not leave them alone. It makes me sick to my stomach to know that a child could be floating in a pool and no one know how long he was floating. This is an eye opener to all parents that life is precious and children are a gift from God and it is your job to watch over them and keep them safe.

Back to P: I am a parent also. And we always made sure that someone was watching the kids ANY time they were near the water. If you want to say that I hovered over my children, that's fine. At least I know that I did EVERYTHING possible to make sure they were always watched around any type of water. And anyone with children now, should do their complete all to make sure their children are okay.

I was there, and the mother was maybe 10 to 15 feet away from where her son was. She had no clue her son was face down in the pool. As a parent myself, it is not that difficult to watch your child in the pool or anywhere else.

this is to S: You either live under a rock or you've never had children...you CANNOT watch them every minute of every day no matter how good a parent you are. Keep the charges for real law breakers.

When are people going to realize that they really need to watch all children around pools and the beaches???? Life is too precious, and for a child to die or almost die, because of the neglect of a parent/caregivers attention is simply unexcusable. Someone ought to be charged for neglect.
