Fire crews were busy this afternoon battling a brush fire that got out-of-control behind the Hombre Golf Club.
The flames came as close as 50 to 60 feet from the homes inside The Glades neighborhood off of Hombre Circle.
Winds caused the flames to spread quickly. Panama City Beach fire crews, Bay County, and Florida Division of Forestry personnel helped fan the flames.
Some residents were told to evacuate their homes as a precaution. At one point, Moylan road was shut down because of the heavy smoke.
The fire is under control at this time. No word yet on the cause of the brush fire.
