Hundreds lining Ohio Avenue in Lynn Haven celebrating America's 233rd birthday.
"We are just thankful to live in a country that's free," Marian Nickel, a local resident said.
From the Shaddai Shriners on their go-carts to different church organizations getting down.
Everyone was waiving American flags celebrating their freedom.
But the 4th isn't just about BBQ's and get togethers, it's a time to thank those who keep us free.
Including Bob and Fred Sitten who have more than 50 years of combined military service.
"It brings back memories. I served 28 years in the army. I remember being in Vietnam on the 4th of July. Being in Korea on the 4th of July, in the Marshal Islands," Sitten said.
"I served 5 years active duty in the navy as a naval aviator and as a naval reservist for 25 years. I'm retired navy and I live in Pensacola now," Sitten said.
Congressman Kendrick Meek, who's trying to collect petitions for his U.S. Senate bid, was in town celebrating the holiday.
"I'm glad to be here in Lynn Haven as you know I'm running for the U.S. Senate next year, but it's a great day to spend Independence Day here in Northwest Florida," Meek said.
"Oh man I love it. I love to see the flags. I love to see the children, I love the American way and thank God for America."
The city will have a fireworks display tonight at 9 at A.L. Kinsaul Park.
