Four people died in four separate traffic crashes in this area in less than a 12-hour period Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

The Florida Highway Patrol is reporting traffic deaths in Holmes, Okaloosa, Walton and Jackson Counties.

A single car crash Saturday evening on Holmes County Highway CR 181 one mile south of Interstate 10 killed 31-year-old Ashron James Chambers of Westville. His passenger, 37-year-old Heather Anne Hyde, also of Westville, was seriously injured.

Troopers say their S-U-V failed to negotiate a curve, overcorrected, crashed into several trees and rolled over.

The second fatal crash Saturday night occurred in Okaloosa County on Rattlesnake Bluff Road.

Investigators for the F-H-P say Alyssa Paige Helwick, 19, of Valparaiso was killed when her pick up truck went out of control at a high rate of speed hit a dirt embankment and flipped over three times. Helwick was thrown from the overturning vehicle, which then collided with some pine trees.

This crash occurred on Rattlesnake Bluff Road nine tenths of a mile west of State Road 85. Helwick was not wearing a seat belt. Her passenger, 19-year-old Aaron Vincent Goodrich, was wearing a seat belt and received minor injuries.

The third fatal crash of the night Saturday occurred at 9:20 PM in Walton County on County Road 280 and Walton Bridge Road.

Troopers say Stephen K. Moore, 48, of Ponce De Leon died when his pick up truck left the roadway on a curve, hit a guardrail and overturned partially ejecting Moore who was not wearing a seat belt.

The fourth overnight fatal crash happened in Jackson County at 3:00 AM Sunday morning on County Road 169 south of Varsity Lane.

The Florida Highway Patrol says one person died in this crash. The fatality is identified as Angel V. Mickel, 27, of Greenwood.
