Hundreds of people Saturday morning took a step towards preventing, treating, and defeating cardiovascular diseases.
Gulf Coast State College saw more than 500 people show up for this year's "Heart Walk" hosted by the American Heart Association.
The walk began at 9:00 Saturday morning and more than $70,000 dollars were raised.
The American Heart Association is the largest voluntary health organization working to prevent and treat heart disease, stroke, and other heart-related diseases.
The nation's number one and number four killers claim more than 800,000 American lives each year.
Sponsors for the event include Walgreens, Gulf Coast Medical Center, Bay Medical Center, Gulf Power, and WJHG Newschannel 7.
