Florida Highway Patrol officers spent New Year’s Day patrolling the highways, keeping drivers safe and in check.

Troopers positioned themselves all over Bay County including the Hathaway Bridge where they used radar equipment to screen for speeders.

Officers say they want to make sure folks are driving safely all year round not just during the holidays.

"Be aware of the other traffic. Not be in a big hurry. The roads are wet because of the rain we've had. Be sure to slow down due to the road conditions," says Florida Highway Patrol Officer Greg Jackson.

Jackson says FHP officers patrolled the county throughout New Year’s Eve.

As of 4 a.m. Monday morning, they had made no DUI arrests.
