Panama City Beach cop killer Robert Bailey has been ruled as competent to stand trial.
Local Circuit Judge Michael Overstreet issued the ruling Tuesday afternoon after hearing testimony as to bailey's competence last week.
Bailey is accused of murdering Panama City Beach police Sgt. Kevin Kight during a traffic stop on Front Beach Road on Easter Sunday night.
State Attorney Steve Meadows called Tuesday's decision by the court, one of the most important of his career as this ruling clears the way for the trial begin. No trial date has been set yet.
