PANAMA CITY - More than 200 High School and Middle School students from Bay, Gulf, and Holmes Counties were honored Monday night for excelling in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Organizers of the Three Rivers Regional Science and Engineering Fair handed out awards Monday night to this year's winners in a number of different categories encompassing STEM.
The competition is open to all public, private, charter and home schooled students in area counties like Bay, Gulf, and Holmes.
About twenty of the students will move on to the State Science Fair April 8th through the 10th in Lakeland. Winners there can advance to the International level which will take place Mother's Day Weekend.
Paula Weaver was the Fair Coordinator and said "Whether they become a scientist or a mathematician, we know that if they know their science, their math, their engineering technology, they're gonna do so much better in any career that they choose, so we just want to encourage them."
Some winners received cash prizes and other gifts like iTunes gift cards.
