Twenty special operations soldiers were honored Tuesday at Hurlburt Field for their distinguished service in combat.
The soldiers received various awards including the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Silver Star.
One soldier received the nation's oldest military award, the Purple Heart, due to shrapnel from an errant bomb blast that ripped through his hand.
Family, friends and fellow soldiers came to support the award recipients. The commander of Hurlburt Field, Lt. General Paul Hester, thanked the men for their bravery and unwavering dedication.
