Bay County sheriff's deputies, local celebrities, and some area Special Olympics athletes offered a helping hand at the Publix on Highway 77 Saturday.

The group spent the afternoon bagging groceries to help raise money to send local athletes to the national Special Olympics competition in Tampa this coming May. It costs about $150 per athlete to go to the Special Olympics.

Area law enforcement are getting ready for their Special Olympics torch run that leads up to the big competition.

"My goal this year is $10,000, and we're up to $2,000 right now, we're working on it," says Sgt. Mark Tocherman of the Bay County Sheriff’s Office.
