Forty-one-year old Terry Taylor of Alabama appeared before a Bay County judge Monday morning.
Taylor's bond was set at $6,500 for the drug related charges. Panama City Beach police say his girlfriend, 46-year old Elizabeth Walters, was found dead in her hotel room and her death was quickly labeled suspicious.
An autopsy found Walters died of natural causes, but a preliminary toxicology test showed the presence of cocaine and amphetamines in her system. The final results will show the amount of drugs in her system and whether that could have led to her death.
Maj. David Humphries with the Panama City Beach police says the investigation is still ongoing.
"I will tell you, however, some of the things at the scene we found are not consistent with a normal drug overdose which still causes us some concern, and we're certainly going to continue our investigation into that," said Maj. Humphries.
Maj. Humphries also said a guest in the motel says she heard a woman screaming for help before the police arrived Sunday morning.
