If you have, don't forget to file for a homestead exemption, it could save you hundreds of dollars per year in property taxes.
New homeowners have until March 1 to get the exemption which takes $25,000 off the taxable value of your home.
“It's very important to file for homestead on March 1. We may be able to help if someone has extenuating circumstances, but march 1st is the deadline,” says Property Appraiser Rick Barnett.
Bay County property tax increases are based on the Consumer Price Index and capped at three-percent.
