Those walking along the shore near the canal on the west end of Mexico Beach noticed the dredge boat that usually keeps its canals clear was under water Thursday morning.
City officials were trying to remove the boat and determine if there are any environmental concerns.
While the boat is very old, it was used frequently and traveled the canal Wednesday.
Officials are not concerned because they do have another dredge boat available.
