While many youngsters spent the morning pouring over their answers on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test, or FCAT, some others got a treat.
Pre-k through second graders at Oscar Patterson Elementary met The Cat in the Hat. Tuesday was Dr. Seuss's 100 birthday and in honor of the Seussentenial the children enjoyed a play to The Cat in the Hat and the movie The Cat in the Hat Comes Back.
"The kids are so excited, they really took forward to it. We do a different book every year, and this year is the Cat and the Hat and the Cat and the Hat Comes Back with a visit from Thing 1 and Thing 2 for Dr. Seuss's 100th birthday,” says Jan Rutherford ³
The National Education Association first started celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday in 1995 through their book's Alive Program.
