Motorcycle Crash

State troopers say 29-year-old Patrick Newsome was riding a motor scooter southbound on 231.

He switched from the outside lane to the inside one and slowed down. The driver of a white van hit the scooter from behind. Newsome was killed instantly. He was not wearing a helmet.

Newsome’s mother is a warrant’s officer at the Bay County Sheriff’s Office.

Twenty-three-year-old Jason Messer was killed in a car crash on Thomas Drive early Tuesday morning. He was the son of Lynn Haven Police Chief, David Messer.
