David Turenne was a Canadian Air Force Major assigned to Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City when he was murdered. He was beaten to death outside the couple's Forest Park home in 1996.

Monique Turenne's boyfriend, Ralph Cromptom, is already serving a life sentence for his part in the killing. Crompton admits he fought with David Turenne in the driveway. But he claims it was Monique who delivered the fatal blow to her husband with a hammer and that, he says, came after he left.

She returned to Canada shortly after the killing and has never left. The Canadian courts ordered her extradition back to Florida three years ago, after local prosecutors agreed not to seek the death penalty. She's now appealing that extradition order.

This week her attorney told a Manitoba appeals court she deserves to have her trial in her hometown of Winnipeg, not here in Panama City. There’s no word when the courts will make a ruling.
