Panama City Reserve Troops Honored

They're back home from a year of fighting in Iraq, and now a Panama City Army reserve unit is being 15 members of the 576th Transportation Detachment were deployed to Kuwait and Iraq in February of last year.

They conducted transportation operations in the air, on the ground, on rail and at ports overseas. Saturday, they're superiors said thanks for all that they've done.

"People don't understand the sacrifice soldiers make and their families make. They work 12 hour days, everyday. Mortars and rockets fired at us on a pretty regular basis. Anybody that does that deserves an extra special thanks," Major Buddy Janovsky says.

The troops' superiors weren't the only ones to say thanks. The owner of Blackbeard’s Restaurant gave the troops and their families a free lunch after the ceremony.
