Melodies for Babies is not just about a good meal and entertainment, volunteers set up for the night with proceeds helping the local chapter of the March of Dimes.
A baby is a special addition to a family, but when the baby comes early or has health problems, parents don't always know where to turn. The Bay Medical Wound and Healing Center is one of the event sponsors.
Bobbie Brigman is the director of the Wound and Healing Center and is happy to be involved.
"A lot of people would say, 'my child was born premature and the March of Dimes was right there and they've always had a great reputation for helping babies in need."
And helping babies get a fighting chance is why many are here to raise money. Catering was provided by Triple J's Steakhouse and Gayle Clark is part of the company's public relations department and also spearheaded Melodies for Babies.
"So, what we would like to do is save at least one baby's life and give the parents a little less heartache to be faced with."
The March of Dimes works to educate parents about premature births and health care to ensure a baby has the best chance at a healthy life.
Rick Brigman is hosting the entertainment during dinner. Brigman says the event of music and food is a great way to bring attention to the March of Dimes.
"Just to help these children who need help, we who are more fortunate and are blessed with healthy children realize where there are many instances where children need help and that's why we're here."
Gayle Clark agrees.
"Babies are our future and we need to do everything we can to preserve that future."
And so these people gathered today and entertained a full house Sunday night to help the babies they will never meet.
