According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 48-year old Mark Omar Emard walked out in front of a car on Highway 98 near the west side of the bridge.
Troopers say Emard was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time. He received serious injuries, but is in stable condition.
The driver of the car, 45-year old Kathy McLendon of Youngstown, was not injured.
No charges were filed.
