A Tallahassee man is at Bay Medical Center recovering from a gun shot wound he received early Sunday morning while visiting an Ebro motel.

According to Chipleybugle.com it happened around 4 a.m. at the Ebro Motel in South Washington County.

Officials from the Washington County Sheriff's Office say when they arrived they found, 40-year-old Daryl Stephens of Tallahassee wounded.

Stephens was treated for the gun shot wound and taken to Bay Medical Center.

They say Stephens is in stable condition.

Investigators say earlier that night Stephens had been at the Ebro Greyhound Park.

Apparently he won a large sum of money.

They say Stephens left the park and checked into the Ebro Motel.

About three hours later, two men possibly in their twenties with short hair, attempted to rob Stephens.

They say after fighting, one of the suspects shot him.

Both men fled.

No arrests have been made.
