Beach city council members are looking for ways to improve ground transportation. Thursday they will discuss making part of Front Beach Road a one-way street.
The affected section runs from one end of Middle Beach Road to the other. That would create a large circle with traffic moving west on Front Beach and returning east on Middle Beach.
The idea has come up before, but a recent Department of Transportation study also recommends the change.
“With enhancements and the flyover at the bridge, there will be much more traffic coming into Panama City Beach heading west. We will not be in good shape with only one westbound lane. We’re not in good shape now.”
Mayor Lee Sullivan hopes to make a decision on the traffic re-routing at the beach city council meeting Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
