Spring break in Panama City Beach is catching the attention of the national media.

The Cable News Network interviewed Mayor Lee Sullivan this afternoon. The interview aired on CNN's financial news network, and focused on how spring break effects our local economy.

Even though The Tourist Development Council is reporting lower than expected hotel room capacities this year, Sullivan says it still makes for an interesting news story.

"It covers everything. It covers behavior, it covers economics, it covers community acceptance. All the things that make for a good story happen here in the spring. What we have to remember is for five or six weeks we become the microcosm of how young America is doing. People like to pay attention to that," says Mayor Lee Sullivan.

Mayor Sullivan was also interviewed by MSNBC's Joe Scarborough.
