Tuesday morning several members of the Bay Medical Center staff made a plea to the county commissioners for funding.
The main initiative of the sales tax would go towards paying off the incinerator, but some of the money would be used in other county projects.
In a four to one vote, the commissioners agreed to add the hospital to the tentative list.
Commissioner Mike Ropa opposed the addition, saying it wasn't a fair opportunity.
"Are we creating a competitive advantage for one hospital versus another versus a satisfying a need in the community?”
The commissioners scheduled a public workshop for April 6 to discuss the ballot language and finalize the project list.
