Murder Suspect's First Appearance

The last suspect in the Shadow Bay home invasion murder is now being held without bond in the Bay County Jail.

Eric Harden made his first appearance in front of a judge this afternoon. Harden was brought back to Bay County yesterday from Jacksonville. That's where he was arrested late last year by SWAT officers after a high speed car chase.

Harden's charged with first degree murder, home invasion robbery, and armed burglary of an occupied dwelling.

Harden, Ahmad Smith, and Jay Broxton are all accused of storming into a Callaway home last October and killing Broxton's half-brother, James Edwards, Junior.

Bay County sheriff's investigators say it took a while to return Harden to Bay County, because of his arrest in Jacksonville.

Cpt. Jimmy Stanford of the Bay Co. Sheriff's Office said, "At the time he was arrested in Jacksonville, he was in a stolen vehicle and he got into a police chase with Jacksonville sheriff's officers. During that chase, he rammed a Jacksonville officer, so and he incurred charges in Jacksonville."

Jay Broxton will be the first of the suspects to see the courtroom. He is due to go on trial in a few weeks.
