Sunday Beer Sales

Residents in the Panhandle town of Fort Walton Beach can now buy their Sunday football beer on game day. The city has approved an ordinance allowing alcohol sales from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Sunday.

Previously, the town didn't allow businesses to sell alcohol before 1 p.m. on Sundays.

City council members who approved the ordinance Wednesday afternoon said the move will help area businesses to be more competitive in the tourism-driven economy. Supporters of the change also said it would avoid long lines of people stocking up on alcohol late on Saturday nights.
