A 54-year-old grandmother is dead and her 13-year-old grandson is in critical condition after a head-on collision on Back Beach Road in Panama City Beach.

The accident happened Friday night right before 11:00. The Georgia family was heading west on Back Beach Road and made a left-hand turn onto Beckrich Road. They turned into the path of a Ford Escape, which had four spring breakers from Georgia inside.

Fifty-four-year-old Linda Bryan and her 13-year-old grandson were passengers in the Mazda SUV. The collision caused some of the spring breakers in the Ford Escape to be thrown from the SUV, but they suffered only minor injuries.

Law enforcement officials warn drivers to be careful, especially on holiday weekends when there are more people on the road.

Six people have died in car accidents on Bay County roads in the past week and a half.
