The methamphetamine drug unit uncovered an unusually large amount of meth in a mobile lab in Southport Sunday afternoon.

A Bay County sheriff's deputy pulled 25-year-old Lance Hugh Reed over for a routine traffic violation at a gas station off of Highway 77.

Reed fled from the scene, but the deputy finally caught up with him two miles down the road. When he searched his car he found more than pound of meth in powder form as well as more 658 grams of meth oil.

Sheriff's officials say the bust is a substantial one.

"This is quite a significant find today. We are very glad to take about one million dollars worth of meth off the streets of Bay County. It's good,” says Bay County Sheriff's Office Spokeswoman, Ruth Sasser.

Reed is from Alabama, but there was a local warrant out for his arrest. Sheriff's officials say Reed also stole the red Mustang he was driving.
