The St. Joe Community Foundation is donating $600,000 to FSU’s Panama City branch campus.
A half million dollars of that will be for scholarships; $250,000 of the scholarship money will be a challenge grant, in which St. Joe challenges other local business to make donations for scholarships.
St. Joe will match those donations, up to another $250,000 over the next five years. The remaining $100,000 is to equip the school’s lecture hall.
The St. Joe Community Foundation President, William Britton Greene, says it’s all about investing in the community. With state matching grants, the total gift could exceed $1.3 million.
