Explosive Backyard

Thursday afternoon residents found coiled explosives floating in the bay behind some houses in the Venetian Villa neighborhood in Lynn Haven.

Panama City Police and Fire responded to the area and made a 100-foot perimeter around the device. A representative with the Halliburton Company came to retrieve the material, which had already detonated but just floated ashore.

Sergeant Bobby Hartwell with the Panama City Police Department, says if you find an explosive device, leave it alone.

"If you see anything in the water that looks to be made out of plastic cord or plastic pieces, anything painted bright red or any type of marking that say explosive, don't mess with it. Leave it to lay where it is."

Call the police or Fire Department if you find any suspected explosive material.
