Representatives from Innovations Federal Credit Union stopped by reading and economics classes this morning. They were explaining financial literacy issues to the high school students.
They helped students understand various topics, from credit scores to balancing their check book. Officials say it's important to educate youth on these issues in the school setting.
David Southall, President and CEO of Innovations, says, "These kids are getting ready to go out into the real world. They need to understand how important it is to budget and save money because with our economy with the way it is, it's so important that kids learn and understand the importance and the need to be financially savvy."
Southall says the program was a success. The children were enthusiastic and ready to learn.
