Investigators Say Arson Caused Panhandle Fires

One of the fires burned 840 acres near Youngstown and another fire destroyed two homes in Rosemary Beach.

The Florida Division of Forestry says the wildfire burned acreage in Bay and Calhoun Counties on Saturday, threatening a handful of homes and forcing evacuations of at least one family.

Officials say the two homes burned because of arson. The two homes, one of which was still under construction at the time of the fire, caused an estimated $6 million in damage.

The homes, in an exclusive beach community, stood side-by-side.
