New Horizons Learning Center will be using a big grant from AT&T to make some valuable upgrades.
AT&T officials presented the $48,000 grant Friday to fund basic literacy programs, upgrade the school's media and television facilities, and the computer-based math program "fast math".
New Horizons gives troubled students a second chance at an education. And school officials say this money will help the students achieve their dreams.
"Between the basics of math, the basics of reading, and the basics how to get a job and how to keep a job, this grant is going to make a significant difference in the lives of our students," Ken Johansen, Media Specialist at New Horizons Learning Center said.
The grant will also allow mentors and other business partners to produce videos of vital jobs skills, including tips for a successful job interview.
