Extreme makeovers seem to be all the rage now-a-days, and a beautiful smile is usually the first thing people want. Fortunately, you don't have to go to Hollywood or be on reality TV to get the job done.
High-tech dentistry is quickly making its way to the Panhandle. Made popular by shows like Extreme Makeover, Bay County dentists are using all the latest equipment to keep up with the demand of wanting a beautiful, healthy smile. Plus, going high-tech means a more enjoyable trip to the dentist.
"It allows us to be able to work on our patients more competently, efficiently and quicker. Patients spend less time in the chair, which is great," says Bay County Dentist Dr. Reese Harrison.
Going to the dentist now-a-days means watching your favorite TV show or DVD, while getting your teeth 10 shades whiter in under an hour, but vanity isn't the only thing these high-tech dentists are worried about.
Healthy gums are important too, and with a new laser gum treatment one local dentist says the job has gotten close to perfect.
"I love to talk cosmetics because that's where you see the dramatic changes. The big bang for your buck, but longevity and keeping your mouth healthy, you're going to be able to live an extra 10 years," says Bay County Dentist Dr. Herbert Salisbury.
Dr. Harrison and Salisbury aren't alone. They say most of the county's dentists are investing in high-tech equipment.
