Closings by County and City are as followed:
Schools OPEN Tuesday, November 10, 2009.
-Gulf Coast Community Colleges
-FSU PC Open Tuesday, Closed Wed.
-All Schools in Holmes County
-All Schools in Jackson County
-All Schools in Washington County
Schools CLOSED Tuesday, November 10.
-NW Florida State College in Okaloosa Closed Tuesday.

-All Gulf County Schools.---Classes will resume Wednesday, November 11, 2009 as scheduled.

Bay County
-Boys and Girls Club will be closing ALL area facilities Monday at 6 p.m. and will be closed all day Tuesday.
-The Bay District School Board Zoning Workshop scheduled for Monday, November 9, 2009 at 5:00 P.M. in the Board Room at the Nelson Building located at 1311 Balboa Avenue, has been cancelled. The Bay District School Board Zoning Workshop scheduled for Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. will continue to be held on that date and time.
Sporting Events
NewsChannel 7 would like to announce the High School Football Division I, 1A playoff has been rescheduled, and will begin at 4:00 p.m. eastern time, and will be held at Liberty County High School. NewsChannel 7's Sports Director Scott Rossman will have score updates at 6 & Highlights at 10 p.m.
The three teams competing in the playoff are as follows:
-Port St. Joe Sharks
-Blountstown Tigers
-Liberty County Bulldogs
All three teams are tied for first place in the division. The class 2B District 1 tiebreaker between Walton, Marianna and Host Chipley. This three team tiebreaker for the district runner-up will be held Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. central at Chipley High School.
Freeport Middle School Boys Basketball
Freeport Middle School's boy's basketball and Freeport High School basketball games are cancelled for Tuesday, November 10th.

Bay District Schools Employee Update:
Due to some time sensitive financial requirements, we will have the school board meeting Tuesday, November 10 at 2 p.m. as previously scheduled.
The following meetings/activities scheduled have been canceled:
- Bay Base will be closed on Tuesday, November 10.
- All recognitions previously scheduled for the Board Meeting on Tuesday, November 10 will be re-scheduled.
- Expulsion Hearings for Tuesday, November 10 have been re-scheduled for Tuesday, November 17.
- School Board Workshop for Zoning of Deer Point Elementary scheduled for Monday, November 9 at 5:00 p.m. is canceled.
- All flu shots have been canceled for Tuesday, November 10 and will be re-scheduled.
- All athletic contests and activities scheduled for Monday, November 9 have been canceled; any afternoon events or activities scheduled for Tuesday may be held at the discretion of the principal.

-The offices under the purview of the Bay County Commission at the Government Center will be open for business Tuesday. However, several of the constitutional officers have chosen to close their doors, including the Supervisor of Elections, Property Appraiser and Tax Collector. Those offices will be closed Tuesday.

-The Fourteenth Judicial Circuit Court in Bay County will be closed for business on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 in anticipation of Hurricane Ida’s impact on the Gulf Coast. This includes all Bay County Courthouses and Clerk of Court offices.
-All Fourteenth Judicial Circuit Courts will be closed on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 in honor of Veteran’s Day.

-Early Education and Care's Head Start and Early Head Start Centers and the main office will be closed Tuesday in Bay County.
-All centers and main office will be closed on Wednesday for Veteran's Day. The centers and the main office will re-open on Thursday, November 12.
-All Courts in Calhoun county will remain open on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 unless further notified.
-The Early Head Start Center in Franklin County will be open on Tuesday until further notice.
-All Courts in Gulf county will remain open on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 unless further notified.
All five Tax Collector Offices will close to the public at 1:30 p.m. Monday
in preparation for Tropical Storm Ida’s arrival on the Emerald Coast. All offices will reopen on
Thursday, November 12, 2009 after the Veteran’s Day holiday on Wednesday.
Fort Walton Beach
Due to the anticipated sever weather associated with Tropical Storm Ida, City of Fort Walton Beach residents are urged to take note of the following information:
At the current time, sanitation crews are planning to collect all regularly-scheduled residential and commercial garbage routes today, Monday November 9th. The decision on collection for Tuesday, November 10th will be made later today. If wind speeds reach 45 mph, all routes will be suspended and trucks will be grounded until the storm has passed.
All City Recreation and Cultural Services Department sporting events and activities for Monday and Tuesday have been canceled. Aftercare at Docie Bass Recreation Center is still scheduled for today, Monday November 9th. A decision on Tuesday’s aftercare program will be made later today.
The Fort Walton Beach Public Library will close Monday, November 9th, at 5:00 p.m. A decision on the hours of operation for the Library and other recreation centers for Tuesday will be made later today.
Residents are asked not put any additional yard waste or other debris curbside until the storm has passed. City crews are currently conducting a sweep of the City to collect yard debris.
Make sure you secure your refuse container, outside yard furniture and other outside items prior to the arrival of the storm.
In our area, the Emergency Broadcast System radio stations are AM 1260, FM 105.5 and FM 99.5. During a storm, you can tune into one of the Emergency Broadcast System stations for important emergency information.
If sustained winds reach 40 miles per hour, the Clyde B. Wells Bridge on Highway 331 will be “closed” to vehicular traffic. If closed, the bridge must be examined by the state Department of Transportation before it can be reopened. U.S. Highway 331 is the only north-south route in the county.
Many schools planned Veteran’s Day programs for Tuesday, November 10th. These programs will be cancelled due to school closings. Wednesday, November 11th, is Veteran’s Day and all schools will be closed for this holiday, as well.
All non-emergency county functions will be closed down at noon today, Monday, November 9, and remain closed through Tuesday. All non-essential Walton County Government offices will be closed beginning Monday, November 9 at noon through Wednesday, November 12. The Board of County Commissioners has declared a state of emergency to handle Hurricane Ida for Monday and Tuesday. County government offices are closed Wednesday in observance of Veterans Day.
A voluntary evacuation of low-lying areas and mobile home parks south of Highway 20 is in effect immediately.
-The Freeport High School gymnasium will serve as a shelter, and a special needs’ shelter beginning two o’clock Monday afternoon.
-Is closing at 2pm today, Monday, November 9, 2009.
-Will be closed all day Tuesday, November 10, 2009,
-Has canceled the regularly scheduled Council Meeting tonight, Monday, November 9, 2009.
-Has canceled the SMART Growth Grant Workshop tomorrow night, Tuesday, November 10th, 2009,
-Will end garbage and trash pickup at 2pm Monday, Nov. 9.
•Will pick up all garbage and trash not completed on Monday on Wednesday, November 11, 2009
•Will pick up all Tuesday’s garbage and trash on Wednesday, November 11, 2009
-Will pick up Wednesday’s garbage and trash as scheduled
Due to Tropical Storm Ida, the Veteran’s Day Program scheduled for Wednesday, November 11th at Magnolia Cemetery has been canceled.
All Veterans are invited to attend a memorial service on November 11, 2009 at 10:00am at the Amvets Post #178 located at 4776 U.S. Highway 90 West. For more information, please call 892-4594
District 5 Commissioner, Cecilia Jones, has cancelled the ribbon cutting ceremony scheduled for Thursday, November 12 at Driftwood Estates County Park in Santa Rosa Beach. The event will be rescheduled at a later time.
-Santa Rosa Beach and DeFuniak Springs Chamber of Commerce offices will be closed Tuesday, November 10th and Wednesday, November 11th, honoring Veteran’s Day. Both offices will resume regular business hours on Thursday, November 12th.

At this time schools will remain open and there is no plan for government offices to be closed before the Veterans Holiday on Wednesday, November 11.

Couldn't they have waited a few more hours before cancelling school in Bay Cty? By dinner time they knew it wasn't going to be bad here - now I'm home with 2 stir crazy kids and the sun is shining? Snow days back north get called at 6am - why not "tropical storm days". So glad to be missing my school (which is not closed) for no reason.

whoever you are, (........) didnt catch your name/ the women as parents have to answer for absences, sorry you maybe unaware, of that!!!! you cant keep kids out whenever you want. you must be an angry little man who cant handle the responsibilties of parenthood, guess it makes you mad it may interfere with your work? i have to take a day off just to pivk them up for early release. the attitude isnt necessary on here. keep it yo yourself, mr. negativity and do not use my name that way, mr. hide behind a computer.
