County commissioners are asking residents to be aware of slick streets and potential flooding in lowland areas. Emergency management staff say they expect a Level 1 activation tomorrow.
While officials don't anticipate opening shelters, the Red Cross is on standby. They're most concerned about potential flooding of the Choctawhatchee River, as the storm dumps rain to the north.
Roger Hagan, public safety director for Washington County, says, "An inch of rain in Geneva basically equates to a foot of water at Caryville, so if we get 5, 6, 7, 8 inches of rain up there, our river comes up to 14, 15 feet and our flood stage is at 12 feet."
