Panama City-- For most girls turning seven, their birthday party comes with a lot of gifts and plenty of cake for the celebration.

But for Gracie Day from Panama City, her 7th birthday party was just a bit different.

Gracie Day spent her birthday with her family Saturday, not opening presents, but collecting presents at the Forest Park Methodist Church in Panama City. Presents like cat food and other pet supplies that will be donated to animal foster homes and other shelters to supply basic needs to stray cats.

Gracie is donating all of the supplies and money to the local Paws and Claws organization.

"Because I love cats cause they are so sweet and I love animals too,” said Gracie when asked why she wanted to spend her birthday collecting cat food and supplies.

"We are always in need and its amazing that a young girl would realize that and would want to help," said Fontella Hardman with Paws and Claws.

Paws and Claws is a non-profit organization that works to find abandoned animals homes.
