Pilcher's Ambulance Service, out of Dothan, wants to become licensed in the state of Florida under the name "Gulf Coast EMS." If the board proceeds with that request, commissioners will notify municipalities and hospitals within Bay County. They will set a hearing on the issue.

Pilcher's is contracted with Jackson Hospital in Marianna. That created some controversy recently in Jackson County, since the hospital is also using the county's ambulance services.

Tuesday, Bay County commissioners will also ask for a proposal from architects to design a four-story courthouse expansion. It will be built on the old Bay County jail property.

The addition would include a 20,000 square foot parking garage on the first floor, and it would create more courtrooms and office space.

The construction will be funded by increased fees on traffic offenses, approved by the board last month.

Monday, commissioners will meet with the local state legislative delegation to discuss county-wide issues. That meeting will run from 5:30-8:00 Monday night in the Bay County Government Center.
