Florida's October Unemployment
Florida’s unemployment rate for October has been pegged at 11.2%, up slightly from September’s rate of 11.1%.

Panama City, Fl. Florida’s unemployment rate for October has been pegged at 11.2%, up slightly from September’s rate of 11.1%.

That’s according to new figures released Friday morning by Florida’s Agency for Workforce Innovation. The numbers mean that last month there were one million 27 thousand workers in the state without a job.

Nearly every county in this immediate area had a rise in unemployment last month. Most were slight tenth of a point increase. But, Bay, Walton and Franklin showed the biggest rise in the numbers. Jackson County, the Marianna area, remained flat at 7.2%

A breakdown of the Area jobless numbers for October shows Bay County’s unemployment rate has jumped up almost a half percent to 9.5%. Franklin County, the Apalachicola area, rose to 7.8%. Walton was up from 6.8 to 7.3%

Florida’s unemployment rate has moderated in the past few months. Liberty County, the Bristol area, is the lowest in the state at 5.4%. Flagler County on the east coast has the highest at 16.1%.

The Friday figures showed 46 of Florida's 67 counties had jobless rates higher than the Panama City area, put Bay County in the lower third of the unemployment rankings
