Local Politician Cleared of State Ethics Charges

The panel said it has found no probable cause to believe Paul Sabiston misused his position by trying to sell city vehicles for his personal gain.

The ethics group also tossed out claims Sabiston bought vehicles without City Council approval, had his vehicle painted at city expense and exceeded his purchasing authority when he bought a catamaran with city funds.

The complaints were filed by former Mexico Beach Councilman and Mayor candidate David Miller.

Ethics officials say the probe has ended and the case is closed.
