School Uniforms

Okaloosa County School Board members have approved a school uniform policy for Edwin students.

The kids will wear the uniforms four days a week. The outfits consist of a red, white or blue polo-style shirt with khakis, shorts or blue jeans.

Parents will buy the clothes, but the school has a fund to buy uniforms for needy children. School officials support the plan.

Okaloosa Schools Superintendent Don Gaetz says, “I think it leads to school safety, it think it leads to more concentration on academics, and as long as it’s a grass roots movement, as long as it comes from the parents and teachers and isn't imposed by the school district, I think it’s a good idea.

Most Okaloosa County schools have some form of uniform policy but few enforce it.
