Contempt Charges Dismissed in Springfield Case

Slay was being charged with contempt of court for not supplying evidence in a criminal case. He had to explain why the Springfield Police Department missed a scheduled deposition and didn't supply requested materials.

According to the chief, he wasn't served with a subpoena and has missed only one deposition in his entire 24-year law enforcement career.

That was good enough for Circuit Judge Don T. Sirmons who dropped the contempt charges. The judge told the court he believed the situation was just an accident.
