Tuesday night, Panama City commissioners passed a resolution saying they should retain their two seats on the Airport Authority Board.

Currently, Panama City and Bay County each appoint two board members. Those four collectively appoint one more member, making the Airport Authority a five-person board.

Panama City commissioners say they will leave the final decision up to the state legislative delegation. But, they did debate the amount of representation Panama City deserves.

Panama City mayor Scott Clemons says, "The city has invested a lot of money in this. We have a history of appointing those, we have a connection to it as a result of that. An investment in it, a long-term investment in it."

Panama City commissioner John Kady says, "But, it's no longer just us. And I think it's important, both symbolically and practically, that we be more inclusive. So, I wouldn't resist dropping down to one seat if we maintain a five-member board."

During the meeting, some commissioners said they want to keep it a five-member board. But, others said they were indifferent to the final number, as long as Panama City still kept two members at the table.
