It all started just before eight o'clock Monday morning just south of the corner of Highway 231 and Star Avenue in Bayou George.
The driver of a car, a 34-year-old Port St. Joe woman, hit a school bus. While a School Resource Officer from Tommy Smith Elementary went to the wreck, the woman took off at a high rate of speed. The SRO quickly lost sight of the car.
A sheriff's deputy in Callaway saw the car zoom past Pittsburgh Avenue and Star Avenue. By the time the second deputy caught up with the car, she had crashed head on with another vehicle at Cherry Street.
The speeding car spun and then flipped a couple times throwing the driver from the car, killing her instantly. The only other person involved in the second wreck was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. The name of the Port St. Joe woman has not yet been released.
It's still unclear why she ran from authorities.
Meanwhile, we now know the victims in a fatal car accident near Crestview Sunday afternoon.
Their identities had been withheld almost 24 hours to notify relatives. According to Florida Highway Patrol troopers, 43-year-old Terry McNelly of Grandy, Missouri was driving on the wrong side of Interstate 10 when he met a truck pulling a horse trailer.
The vehicles hit head on and went into the grassy median where the truck overturned and the trailer landed on top of McNelly's car.
The crash killed both McNelly and the driver of the truck, 42-year-old Joyce Kuhn of Ft. Walton Beach.
