The Florida Highway Patrol says 82-year-old Vernon Lee Wade of Westville died when his car crossed the centerline of the highway striking a tractor-trailer rig.
The mishap occurred Monday afternoon on County Road 279 at Caryville.
Wade was airlifted to a Dothan hospital where he died later.
The driver of the semi, 44-year-old Len Earl Roberts of Graceville, was not injured.
