There's good news or people living around the Merrit's Mill community in Marianna.

Jackson County is coming up with a way to provide a permanent source of safe drinking water. State health officials ordered the residents to stop drinking the well water last year after they found high levels of arsenic and lead in one-third of the wells they tested.

They still haven't been able to find the source of the contamination. The Department of Environmental Protection has been providing bottled water and filters, but last week, the county started laying the pipes to supply county water.

The money is coming from the DEP and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
