A suspect in a sexual battery case is in the hospital after investigators with the Bay County Sheriff's Office say he tried to kill himself Saturday night.
Officials say it all started Friday when 24-year-old Brandon Brousseau-Dwenger raped and held his female room mate hostage at 326 James St. in Callaway.
The victim told investigators she managed to flee the apartment while Brousseau-Dwenger was passed out.
She apparently ran to a neighbor's home and dialed 911.
While she was giving her statement to investigators Brousseau-Dwenger left the Callaway apartment, but officials managed to follow him.
They tried pulling him over at the Texaco on the corner of Star Ave. and Hwy 22, but that's when he shot himself in the head with a handgun.
Brousseau-Dwenger was rushed to Bay Medical Center for his injuries.
