Buford Gets His Man

Updated: Wed 7:50 AM, May 19, 2004

Two suspected carjackers managed to evade police through two area counties, but couldn't get away from the nose of a bloodhound.

Shortly after midnight Tuesday morning, Walton County sheriff's deputies pulled 37-year-old Kenneth Reynolds out of the woods at the intersection of Highway 98 and Highway 331 in south Walton County.

Investigators say Reynolds and 19-year-old James Perrone of Panama City took the keys from a vacationing couple in Laguna Beach late Monday night and drove off in their SUV.

Walton County deputies stopped the suspects’ vehicle near Highway 331, but Reynolds jumped out and took off into the woods.

And that’s when he was sniffed out by Buford the tracking dog. Case closed.
