The leading democrat in the race for Bob Graham's U.S. Senate seat is making the concerns of local veterans her top campaign priority.

Former education commissioner and University of South Florida president, Betty Castor, met with local veterans Tuesday to discuss their needs. The lack of veterans' benefits and services the disabled veterans top concerns.

Retired Air Force veteran Charles Slaydon says he wants a senator that will keep campaign promises.

"I'm looking for integrity. Someone who will do what they say, if not why give us false hopes," says Slaydon.

"They're not getting the services they were promised. I will make veterans' services and benefits an issue, and with so many bases in Northwest Florida I think people are interested to see that I keep that promise," says U.S. Senate Candidate, Betty Castor.

Florida has the second largest number of veterans in the country, with about 23,000 veterans in Bay County alone.
